Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actor, singer, and model. She was known as the co-star in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain, and the singer for the girl band Apollonia 6 Apollonia was a performer/singer christened by Prince in 1984 was one of the female musicians of the 80s who benefitted from Prince. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as a model and actress. In the late 70s she appeared on CHiPS. The lead female character in Prince's Purple Rain was her first performance from 1984. Prince changed the girl's name during this time. The actress replaced Vanity with the female duo Vanity 6 to perform in the movie in the role of Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. Sex Shooter was not a huge hit for the group, but she had a bigger effect as the duet partner of Prince in Take Me with You on the soundtrack. Kotero was able to break up with Prince following a falling apart over the direction of Apollonia 6. She appeared in several minor film projects during this time however, she was not able to appear in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon. Between 1985 and 1986, she got a role in the evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia was the first artist to release her album in 1988. However, it was an average collection of R&B/dance music that did not really attract the attention of the general people. It quickly vanished completely from the public's view. The singer was still active, though not in the limelight, as an actor during the decade following with small roles in television and films. A workout DVD came out. Apollonia's album "Stay With Me" came out in 1997. The singer returned to the university and received a degree in filmmaking. She then formed her business and was employed as a child's TV host. Apollonia Kotero is a household name for wearing many hats. She was a former actress, singer, and model. The part she played as an actress in 1984's Purple Rain made her a celebrity. Some other films and television shows Kotero was a part of include Black Magic Woman and The Divorce Ceremony. Kotero debuted her career as a model. Kotero participated in several pageants.
