AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player, plays as a striker in the San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) which is the highest division of women's soccer in the United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team between 2018 and 2020 with Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. After graduating in the early years of the University of California, Berkeley where she was a player with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was drafted number one overall during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional at the club and helped the team win the league championship. Morgan aged 22 at the time, was the youngest player on the national team in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the team was runner-up. Morgan scored the game-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final game during the 2012 London Olympics. She ended 2012 with 28 goals and 21 assists along with Mia Hamm as the only American woman to score 20 goals and score 20 assists within the same calendar year and becoming the sixth youngest U.S. player to score 20 goals in a single season. After being named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, Morgan was also a FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in helping the United States win their titles in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, in which she was selected to the Dream Team for both tournaments, while she won the Silver Boot in 2019.
